Short Biography

María Soledad Cisternas Reyes is a Chilean lawyer, law professor and researcher with a degree in Law and a master in Political Science.

Since 2017, she is the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy on Disability and Accessibility.

From 2013 to 2016, she was Chairperson of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations. 

In 2014, María Soledad Cisternas Reyes was awarded the National Human Rights Prize of Chile.
